FAQ

What are the requirements for admission to Year 1?

To be admitted to Year 1, a child undergoes an interview with a psychologist to determine their readiness for school, as well as an interview with a teacher to assess their level of preparation.

Is there an entrance test? Is there a passing score? Can a child be denied admission based on the test results?

Yes, children applying to the school take diagnostic tests in three subjects: Mathematics, Ukrainian, and English. In addition, an interview with a psychologist is conducted. This is done to better understand the child's tendencies and individual characteristics.

The testing is diagnostic in nature: we assess the child's knowledge level, learning needs, and plan an individual development trajectory. This helps us determine the appropriate class placement and provide the necessary support.

There is a nominal passing score (60 out of 100); however, each case is considered individually. If there are gaps in the child's knowledge, we offer various forms of support: additional individual lessons or even a temporary individualized learning format. This allows the child to confidently improve their knowledge and comfortably join the class.

How many children are there in each class?

Each class has up to 16 students (as stated in the contract). This ensures individual attention from teachers and creates a supportive, friendly learning environment.

Is online learning available if a child is sick or staying home due to an air raid alert?

Yes, if a child is unwell, they can join lessons online via Zoom. Parents should notify the teacher in advance. Online learning requires the camera to be on, while the microphone is used when necessary.

At the same time, we limit this format to a maximum of two weeks, as the main focus of the school is on face-to-face learning and in-person interaction.

Does the school have a psychologist?

Yes, there is a school psychologist at each location.

In primary school, the psychologist runs “psychological circles” with the children, where they learn to make friends, negotiate, resolve conflicts, and better understand themselves and others through games.

If needed, the psychologist also assists in resolving conflicts and provides individual consultations for children.

Can children bring their phones to school?

Yes, children can bring their phones, but they must be handed over to the curator during class time so as not to distract them from lessons. If needed, the child can always get their phone from the curator to call their parents.

Is there a nurse at the school? What do you do if a child falls ill?

Yes, there is a nurse at the school. If a child feels unwell, we immediately notify the parents and contact the nurse. With the parents’ consent, the nurse can administer painkillers or fever-reducing medication as needed. If necessary, we call an ambulance.

The safety and health of each child is our top priority.

How do you respond to an air alert? Is there a shelter? Does learning continue?

Yes, the school has a certified shelter. Learning continues safely and comfortably even during air alerts. Here’s how it works: during an air alert, all children go down to the shelter together with a teacher, curator, or tutor — always accompanied by an adult.

Each class has its own designated place in the shelter, so children know exactly where to go. The shelter is equipped with everything needed for comfortable learning.

We avoid tests or difficult new topics during this time, creating a calm and safe atmosphere so that children feel secure.

Is there a school uniform?

No, there is no mandatory school uniform. The main principle is that clothing should be comfortable for the child and suitable for the school environment.
